Level 7 State Gymnastics

Karsyn competed at the level 7 State gymnastic competition last weekend in Seattle. Her grandma and grandpa Stewart drove up from Salt Lake City to watch her compete. She had a great meet even though she felt sick to her stomach for three of the four events.

Her first event was the Floor Routine.

Then she competed on Vault. For Vault they get to do two vaults and the judges keep the best of the two vaults for her score. After her first vault we saw her grabbing her stomach and crying. But she managed to pull it together for her second vault.

Next was Bars. She was still upset about her stomach and couldn't make anything in warm-ups. But once again, she came through when it really mattered.
Her coach, Erika, is giving her a pep talk before bars and trying to help her forget about her stomach. While talking, Karysn accidentally spit on her - this caused her to laugh and forget about not feeling well!
The last event is always the most stressful for me to watch...Beam! This was the heartache of the meet. She had the most beautiful beam routine of all year. She started out so strong but then fell on the full turn. She got back up and finished strong as well. The fall is an automatic .5 deduction so that hurts not only your beam score but your All-around score as well. If she hadn't fallen her score would've been 9.650 which beat the first place score! I am always so proud of how well composed she finishes even if she has a fall.

Floor: 9.25
Vault: 9.275 (10th place)
Bars: 8.975
Beam: 9.15

AA: 36.650 (10th place)

Well, I got 'goosebumps' watching Karsyn at the meet, and still get 'goosebumps' watching the video of her. She is simply amazing and we loved that we could be there to watch her.

I forgot to mention that even though she was disappointed that she fell off the beam, she certainly got right back up again. Also, just to think that only 50 girls from the state made it to the competition and she still finished 10th is a great accomplishment.
