Rushing Review

What an amazing finish to a great season! Karsyn not only won her State meet but also placed first All Around in the Level 7 Regional Invitational. Our Region includes Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho and Montana. It was a fun meet because she went into it with a no-stress attitude and came out a Champion! We weren't sure how she would do with just getting back from a long vacation but for some reason Karsyn always seems to do best after a good rest. 2nd Place Vault: 9.40 2nd Place Bars: 9.50 8th Place Beam: 9.125 (she was deducted for going over time) 2nd Place Floor: 9.375 1st Place All Around: 37.40 2nd Place Team Trophy

Karsyn took 1st place at her level 7 State gymnastics meet! They had so many age divisions at State this year that Karsyn competed with only two other girls from her own gym. When she competes with all the girls she is one of the taller girls so she has never held the Naydenov sign during march-in. This time she was the shortest and got to carry in the sign! I love the looks those girls next to her are giving her! It is like they knew from the very beginning that she was the one to beat! Vault Vault: 9.425 2nd place Bars: 9.525 1st place Beam: 9.20 3rd place Floor: 9.125 6th place Occasionally meets give away Judges Awards. This is where each judge chooses only one girl from each event to award for special form, presentation and technique. Karsyn won two of the four awards at this meet. She won one for Bars and Vault. Karsyn took 1st place All Around with a score off 37.275

Karsyn had one fly-away meet this season in Malibu, CA. We made a "mommy and me" weekend out it with one exception...we let grandma and grandpa crash our party! Grandma and Grandpa Stewart (a.k.a. grandma-grandma and grandpa- grandpa) drove from Utah to meet us at the airport and were our own personal chauffeurs all weekend. Karsyn had an 8:30 a.m. meet time. She hates those early meet times. I don't know if the girls were all just tired from the flight or overly excited for the away meet, but every single girl fell at least once at this competition. Karsyn fell on her very first event - bars. That is a manditory .5 deduction. Doesn't sound like much but in gymnastics that might as well be the Grand Canyon! Then, because she fell on an element she had never fallen on before, she had to ask her coach where to pick up the routine again. That is another .3 mandatory deduction! I was so proud of her for getting right back up and finishing strong. Her next even...
