Dallas Meet

Karsyn just competed in her first fly-away meet in Dallas, Texas. She and I flew to Dallas and left Scott here in charge of the other kids. We shared a hotel room with Christy and Lillie and had a great little "girls weekend". We stayed in the Hyatt Regency downtown Dallas and the girls competed at the Dallas Convention Center.

This Tower with the ball on top was part of our hotel. The ball is a rotating restaurant with an observatory.
The girls favorite past time was to play in the glass elevator. The hotel was 28 stories high and they would ride all the way up and down the elevator in a handstand.

These are all Karsyn's level 7 teammates that also stayed in our hotel.

"Are you ready to TUUUUUMMBLE?

Bars was her first event: 9.475 (4th place)

Beam: 9.025

This was her dismount - scared me to death! Her second foot never landed on the beam so she ended up doing a one-footed dismount and barely made her back tuck.

Floor: 9.35 (8T)

Vault: 9.5 (4th)

All Around: 37.40 (6th place)

After the meet the girls all bought these matching pants and posed as nerds! I blame Scott for teaching her this!
After the meet the gymnasts and moms hit the town!
We went to eat a steak dinner - what else would you eat in Texas?

Then we took a horse and carriage ride and got a quick tour of downtown Dallas.

We saw the building from where Lee Harvey Oswald allegedly shot John F. Kennedy. It is the square window second one from the top. We also saw the JFK Memorial called the Unfinished Tomb.

This was the view from our hotel room.

Karsyn had been experiencing severe lower back pain just a few weeks ago. The Doctor told her there was a good chance she would not be able to compete at this meet. She came home the day before we were to leave and told me, "I am going to go for it!" And "go for it" she did! She did great, even getting her second highest score ever!

Oh how thrilling to be there and for Karsyn! Quite amazing also considering she couldn't even practice the week before the meet.
Looks like you even had time to take in the sights! Way to go Karsyn!
Wow, love the pictures - 2 of those people look VERY familiar to me! Thanks and great job Karsyn!

Grandpa and Blake were quite amazed at Karsyn's height on her floor routine. We love the sequence pictures you were able to capture!
