No Rest for Sleeping Beauty

Scott was anxious to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather and his free weekend. He researched and found a hike he wanted to do past Trout Lake in Washington. We couldn't talk either of the boys into joining us because Layton had to work that night and Will has his childhood friend Matthew Presley here visiting. So a date it was! The trail was called Sleeping Beauty and the summit promised  a great view of Mt. Adams. Not sure why they named the trail Sleeping Beauty. There was no way you would get sleepy climbing it's steep trail nor was it easy enough to do it "in your sleep" but the view at the top did deliver as promised. It wasn't a long trail, only 2 1/2 miles roundtrip, so even though it started off pretty steep, it wasn't that hard of a hike. Not only was the hike beautiful but the drive there as well. It was about a two hour drive, the last 10 miles of it being on some rough dirt roads. We enjoyed the views from the car as well as the extra time to visit.

Harley was our only child that wanted to join us on our hike!

We stopped off for some Burgers in Trout Lake that came highly recommended by one of Scott's patients that lives nearby. The Burgers were delicious! Scott tired an Elk burger and loved it. We were a little cold eating dinner because the cafe was only seating people outside due to COVID-19 and it was really cooling off and the wind was picking up. Luckily my car was loaded with extra sweatshirts left in it from sharing the car with the boys these past few months.
