It's a Brand New (used) Car!

It's a brand new car...to Karsyn! Well, with the hopes of getting into the nursing program and school starting up in the fall again, it was time to send Karsyn back to school in her own set of wheels. Scott wanted to make sure she had something wit AWD for the snow in Utah and room for her golf clubs. After some research and several hours online, everyone agreed that the Mazda C3 would satisfy both those needs - and it is a pretty cute car!


We had a set price we were willing to spend towards a car for her and let her know if she wanted anything newer or nicer, she could pay the difference. After lots of looking online and a few dealership visits and test-drives, she decided she was willing to pay $1500 of her own money to get a little new and nicer model. We went ahead and put the title directly in her name so truly is her own car. Now we can't wait until she truly has and pays for her own insurance!


 She wasn't disappointed at all that the dealership we purchased her car from was 2 hours away from home. She's never enjoyed driving two hours in the rain so much before! And it is good thing she got a little time behind the wheel then, because since getting it home, it has sat in our driveway for three months, waiting to be insured, while Karsyn has been in Virginia with Kennedy.

Heather sends us at least one vacation deal to look at each month. In September 2020 she showed us a sale on airfare to Hawaii over Scott's birthday. We had such a fun time there in January 2020 that it didn't take us long to commit and we booked airfare to Maui. We soon realized we couldn't find any affordable lodging in Maui that also offered free cancellation. Generous cancellation policies are definitely a must in these crazy COVID times. Heather found a good deal on lodging in Kauai so we changed our airfare from Maui to Kauai. Yes! Everything was finalized! Well that was until it was declared that all visitors to Hawaii would be required to show a negative COVID test, from one of their approved testing sites, to get off the plane in Hawaii. Blue and Gold

Our Blue and Gold Banquet theme this year was "Camping and Recycling".  I was in charge of the chocolate-dipped marshmallows for the centerpieces.  The gym looked great and everyone had a great time.  Of course, each cub scout brought in a theme-centered cake for the cake "contest" which supplied our dessert for the night.  Will decided to go with the camping theme and we made a giant Smore cake with the biggest home-made graham cracker known to man!  The boys spent some time at the recycling center at the back of the gym, making their unique creations from a bag of recycled items. Glad that is over!  Now just one more big cub scout pack meeting for the year....Pinewood Derby!!!!

Paris

So here is a look at our trip to Paris.  It might be more than most of you care to read!  I just copied and pasted emails we sent home while on our trip.  This is more for my benefit than anyone else's since this blog is the closest I have come to keeping a journal.  Hope you enjoy the journey- we sure did! View from our Seine River Cruise Day One We have the tiniest little room way up at the very top of a very narrow skinny hotel. It reminds us of the love dungeon (our first basement apartment) but it is up at the top so we called it our "love tower"! The bed is a double and you can only stand up straight in the room if you are standing on Scott's side of the bed! The tub is half size (I think they made it for Napoleon).  But I slept great. The weather was amazing! After getting in it was too early to get our room so we left our bags at the hotel and walked around for about an hour while waiting to meet up with the Parkers again.
