Spokane

We hit the road for a quick overnight trip to Spokane, Washington to go visit Whitworth College. We planned a little detour on our way to Spokane to go see the Coulee Dam light show. It was a race getting to the dam in time for the 10:00 p.m. light show. The Grand Coulee Dam was built between 1933 and 1942 to produce hydroelectric power and provide irrigation water. They completed a third powerhouse in 1974 making this dam the largest power station in the United States. The kids were not impressed with the light show sense it was educational based rather than music and laser based but Scott and I enjoyed learning about this large dam that we had never even heard of before!

Dad was so proud of himself with how many minutes he shaved off our travel time on the way to the later show that he was determined to shave off another 15 minutes off our time getting to our hotel in Spokane. He was doing really well until a cop pulled him over...in the middle of nowhere...going 11 miles over the speed limit! After lots of teasing from the kids about his ticket and a good nights sleep, we headed off to tour the Green Bluff Growers loop and stopped at one of the sites to pick our own cherries.

Then it was time to tour the campus at Whitworth. It was a really nice tour and a great campus. Layton really liked it and feels like he has two really good options now between Whitworth and University of Washington.

Will's best friend, Matthew Presley, moved to Puyallup about a year ago and these two boys have been planning a way to get him to stay with us this summer. This looked like the perfect opportunity to bring him to our home since Spokane was only an hour and half away from Puyallup. It was much easier for them to bring him to us there than a 6 hour drive to Vancouver! Will was waiting home excitedly for us to return home with Matthew!

Who knew you were still blogging? You aren't as far behind as I am! You have convinced me to start blogging again so I did my first post tonight since Mia's baptism 3 years ago. Let's get on this blogging train again! It can be our excuse for our next girls trip!
