You can't handle the Heat?


Layton chose not to tag along with Will on his birthday gift of going to a NFL game to see the Saints play the Seahawks.  Reason:  He didn't want to miss school. 
So Scott promised to take him to an NBA game instead.  He wouldn't have to miss school for that.
Layton is a big LeBron James fan, therefore, he is a Heat fan.  Scott was thrilled when he saw the heat would be playing the Blazers on an upcoming night that fit into both their schedules.  He didn't hold anything back on getting the best seats he could.  They ended up sitting on third row right behind the Heat's bench.  
 They were so close that Layton got to stand along the gate and high-five the players as the walked onto the court.  He was so close that he got to stand right next a celebrity (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) whether he even realized it or not!  He was so close to the celebrity he even got to step in her nachos!
He was so close that he was sitting with the whose who of the Heat franchise and the lady sitting right next to him got to see and try on the Championship ring!


As luck (or lack thereof) would have it, this was the first game LeBron couldn't play in since forever!  He was sitting out this game injured.  First of all, Drew Brees has one of his worst games ever and Will watched the Seahawks crush the Saints at his special game, and now Layton doesn't even get to see LeBron play up close!  But Layton had a really great attitude about it all and said it was almost better because he enjoyed watching LeBron on the bench, reacting to the game all night.
He had a great time with his dad and best part of it all...he didn't miss any school!

Heather sends us at least one vacation deal to look at each month. In September 2020 she showed us a sale on airfare to Hawaii over Scott's birthday. We had such a fun time there in January 2020 that it didn't take us long to commit and we booked airfare to Maui. We soon realized we couldn't find any affordable lodging in Maui that also offered free cancellation. Generous cancellation policies are definitely a must in these crazy COVID times. Heather found a good deal on lodging in Kauai so we changed our airfare from Maui to Kauai. Yes! Everything was finalized! Well that was until it was declared that all visitors to Hawaii would be required to show a negative COVID test, from one of their approved testing sites, to get off the plane in Hawaii. Paris

So here is a look at our trip to Paris.  It might be more than most of you care to read!  I just copied and pasted emails we sent home while on our trip.  This is more for my benefit than anyone else's since this blog is the closest I have come to keeping a journal.  Hope you enjoy the journey- we sure did! View from our Seine River Cruise Day One We have the tiniest little room way up at the very top of a very narrow skinny hotel. It reminds us of the love dungeon (our first basement apartment) but it is up at the top so we called it our "love tower"! The bed is a double and you can only stand up straight in the room if you are standing on Scott's side of the bed! The tub is half size (I think they made it for Napoleon).  But I slept great. Memorable highlights and sayings from 2007

January Highlight: Staying at our friends cabin up by Mt. St. Helens. Just a quick drive up the mountain and we had plenty of snow for sledding and great views of St. Helens. January Quote: Scott and I were in the car with Cassidy. I was complaining about how tired I had been. It didn't see m to matter if I slept 4 hours or 8 hours, I always felt tired. Cassidy who had been relatively quiet up till this point pipes up and says, "maybe you are going through menopause."
