Layton's 12th Birthday

Let me introduce you to the newest priesthood holder in the Rushing household....the wonderful, fabulous, multi-talented, brilliant, and special Layton!  What a great kid!  I am so proud of him and the man he is becoming.
It is always a special treat when your birthday falls on a weekend and you get to have your party on your actual birthday.  Layton invited a bunch of his friends to G6 Airpark where they jumped and played for a couple of hours, then we went back home for food and time to just hang out at the house.

Karsyn made Layton ice cream sandwiches with grandma's recipe for awesome oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.  They were so good!  Too good!
Then Monday we did his family birthday celebration.  We started off the day with his choice of birthday breakfast foods.  He got Fruity Pebbles cereal, cinnamon rolls and peaches.

Then that night we all went to Big Al's for bowling.

And of course, the birthday boy got a strike!

Will did still a little of the birthday boy's thunder by getting stuck in the ball return.  Will was reaching across the ball return to get his ball, couldn't quite reach it, so he put his knee up on top to help him lean across for his ball.  Turns out his knee was just the perfect size to go into the open ball slot, but too big to come back out!  He was stuck in there for what I am sure seemed like an eternity to him!  After several minutes of not succeeding, we got an employee involved.  At one moment we were thinking we might have to take the machine apart to get him out.  But somehow we found the perfect angle and his knee was free!  Poor kid.  He was hurting but we were having a hard time keeping a straight face.  The employee gave him some ice for his knee and Scott several free bowling passes so we wouldn't sue!
Then it was time for presents!
Layton was so excited to work both on his physics and his physique this year so asked for a new physics book a an over-the-door gym bar for pull-ups.
The cheapest but funniest gift, was that he specifically asked for his own loaf of white bread!  Then he mumbled something about being tired of eating all that healthy wheat bread with all those seeds in it!

Happy Birthday Layton!  We sure love you!
