Farewell to Summer

Every school district in our city started school on Sept. 4th.  Except us.  My kids would have to wait one more day for their first day of school pics.  Good for Karsyn, Cassidy, and Will.  Bad for Layton who was just itching to get back in class.  I am glad we had one more day because it gave us a nice quiet day to spend together at Alderbrook Park.  Once again, I discovered another great place to take the kids, but only about 9 years too late!  There really needs to be an official Welcome Packet when you move somewhere that tells you everything you need to know about your new city.  This park is about 30 minutes from us and has a pool (which is basically impossible to find in the NW), and big field for playing sports with bouncy houses, an old-run down putt-putt course, paddle boats and fishing.  But the best part is that the drinking fountains flow freely with pink lemonade!

We basically had the place to ourselves since every other school was already back in session.

Cassidy brought her ACT prep book but I think it's main function was to shield her from my paparazzi skills.

Karsyn invited Roxy to come along as well.  I think the girls were glad she was there when they saw a water snake following them just after I took this picture.
Yep.  That's me.  Getting a nice tan line in my boot.  It was a great day and great ending to another fun and busy summer (besides being in a boot!)
