Take it to the Hoop!

Another season of basketball down!
Will continued to play on Doug Dray's team with the the 3rd graders.  With his team going undefeated last year, they decided to step it up a notch and play against the 4th grade teams this year.  So Will was playing against kids 2 years older than himself all year.  At times this was frustrating for him since he didn't get a lot of moments to shine,  but at the times when he had a really good game, he was busting with pride!

Layton played on two different teams this year.  The first session he played for a team that played in two leagues.  This was hard on the schedule and the wallet!  He played for Hot shots like usual but then his team also played for Dan Dickau League.  The Dickau league doesn't use volunteer coaches so the cost was $500!  Then instead of playing one game a week, they play in weekend tournaments every couple of weeks.  So it turned out we were paying $500 to play half the games since we didn't play in the Sunday games.  Live and learn.  So Layton only played for Hot shots the rest of the year and was randomly put on a team our friend, George Suzuki, coaches.  This team was not at the same skill level as his last team but Layton had a blast being the MVP!  He got to play point guard most of the time and I was so impressed with his passing skills!
