Snow Day
Yes, we had a dusting of snow. Cancel the schools, lock up your children and break out the food storage. I found this photo on Facebook and loved it! Anyone who grew up in Utah finds humor in our snow days.
The kids were thrilled with their day off from school but me, not so much. They had just had Monday off of that week already but I hate the mess that comes with snow days. The kids spend all day going out and coming back inside, bringing in wet snow and mud with them. They change their clothes and shoes about 4 times and then leave all their wet stuff wadded up on the laundry room floor. But it only happens every couple years and only lasts a few hours at the most, so I put on my happy mommy face and help them pull out every boot and mitten possible from storage!
The boys of course had one thing in mind...snowball fights. And yes, they always end up in a real fight. But I did get a few photos before things went south. Layton has a strategy for everything. His strategy was to make all his ammo first, as you can see from the line of little snowballs lining my driveway. Will has a strategy too. Throw first, and throw hard! He even looks a little possessed in the photo below.
The girls just want to make snowmen. Cassidy went with the "less is more" philosophy and was done in just a few minutes.
Karsyn was a little bit more ambitious but realized a big snowman was going to be hard to do when we had more mud than snow. We are having some major water draining issues in our back yard. For the past year it has basically been a swamp with a grass layer on top.
I told them I was very proud of them for making African-American snowmen in honor of Martin Luther King this month.
The boys lasted a few minutes until the snowball fights became too personal and the girls had fun until someone got hurt. Everything was good in the world when Karsyn was jumping on Cassidy but when Cassidy jumped on Karsyn, the girls came tumbling down and we almost had a broken leg. Two seconds after I took this photo, there were no smiles!
So until next time....thanks...we had SNOW much fun!
