Christmas Day
If you can't have snow for Christmas, well a beautiful sunrise will do.
Christmas fell on a Sunday this year and lucky us, we were on the 9:00 church schedule.
We decided to let the kids go through their stockings and see what Santa brought them before we got all dressed up and headed off to church.
Cassidy got a watch and a variety of jewelry and surprises in her stocking from Santa
Somehow Will pulled it off and convinced Santa he was worthy of a gift and found this ipod nano in his stocking.
Layton got a new bike. This should really cut back on the bruises he kept getting on his chin from his knees! Hopefully this one will last him for more than a few years.
Karsyn got the Cricut Cake which will help take her to a whole new level with her cake decorating skills.
Kennedy's big gift from Santa was this painting done by artist Liz Lemon Swindle. It was inspired by her trip to Zambia last year. She fell in love with the children there and in particularly with this little boy in Christ's arms, who just happens to be named Kennedy. Being the selfless parents that we are, we agreed to keep the painting here, hanging in our office, until she has a home of her own in which to display it.
Then it was time to leave the gifts, and head off to church. Besides having to be at church at 9:00, I LOVED having Christmas on a Sunday. I loved attending church and having that reminder of it's true meaning and feeling of the spirit through song.
Then it was back to home and back in the jammies!
The kids opened their sibling gifts from each other first. It was so fun to see how excited they were for someone to open one of the gifts they had purchased for them. They did a great job too. I think the sibling gifts were some of every one's favorite gifts of the year.
I had a homemade gift for each of the girls this year! I was so proud of myself for getting these projects done. I almost always have great ideas and intentions, but making them happen is another story.
I made a quilt for Kennedy made with patches from her all her old jeans, made Cassidy some "DANCE" blocks for her new room, and made Karsyn two things: a book from her trip with dad to New York and a memo board and name board for her new room.
So here is the token picture of me. I have to ask someone every year to take a picture of me so when I am dead and gone, the kids will remember which years I was still there!
This is how they will truly remember me though - yep, behind the camera!
Kennedy was so proud of her gift for dad. This was payback time for all the years she had to drive the suburban with our family sticker on the back window. Now he has to put a BYU decal on the back of HIS car!
Then, the moment the kids were all waiting for.....BINGO!!!!
It seems like every year there is one coveted gift that many people are fighting to win. This year it was Taylor Swift's perfume. If you can't tell by the photo, Kennedy won it. Karsyn was not a good loser.
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a Good Night!
