Apparently Guys Just Wanna Have Fun too!
Fall means crisp weather, jackets, changing leaves and.....Tennessee Fottball!
This was the year for Scott and Shane to go to a Tennessee football game together. They like to go back for a game about every-other year. Shane has been living back east for the past year and a half while doing a fellowship in Washington D.C. Since the boys are all getting bigger, they decided to add them to their tradition. Shane drove down from D.C. with Andrew and Ty and Scott took Will. He invited both Layton and Will but Layton said he would be just as happy staying at home working on his science theories.
With their free day before the game, they took a trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The made a full day of it between an Alpine slide, miniature golf, a water slide and a maze.
Who says you have to be a Southerner to be a Red-neck?
Then it was off to the big game! Tennessee was playing Georgia. But first, a quick stop to the book store for a little more orange attire.
Scott loved showing Will the Vol Navy that parades their decorated boats up and down the Cumberland River. He also took him on campus to show him where he went to school his first year of college.
But all this excitement is leading up to the walks of all walks...the Vol Walk. People for as far as you can see fight for a spot to sit and watch as the band, coaches and players parade into the stadium. All the eye can see for miles is orange and more orange.
Here is Will with his cousins, Ty and Andrew sitting on the wall waiting to high-five the players. Look good, because soon Will won't be there. This is where Will was temporarily misplaced.
This is about the time I get a call on my cell phone while up at the cabin on my witches weekend trip.
The same cabin where coverage is spotty at best. My phone rings, I answer, and all I hear is "nevermind, he was lost but now he is with his dad, your son is now with his dad" then the call drops.
I then try to call the number back to find out exactly what is going on and make sure Will is really okay when my phone battery dies. So then all my friends at the cabin begin texting and calling Scott to see if he really has Will. Scott eventually sees the texts and calls to let me know everything is under control but extremely embarrassed that half the Relief Society now knows that he lost his son in an orange sea in Tennessee. Turned out that Will took off in the wrong direction after the Vol walk, found a security guard and the only phone number he had memorized was my cell phone.
It was hard to compete with the pre-game excitement, but the boys all had a great time at the game. Even though Tennessee couldn't quite pull off a win, it was a winning weekend for father/son bonding!

What a wonderful memory for both Will and Scott and good thing Will has your number memorized!
Also, looks like you have taught Scott well...that is to take some really good photos for your blog!
