Lady Ga-Ga Goes Camping

A Rushing favorite is to spend the 4th of July at the Saint Paul Rodeo.  What better excuse is there for Kennedy to show off one of her many pairs of cowboy boots and sport a fine looking cowboy hat?  My favorite part is that we always pair the rodeo with camping.  I love, love , love camping with my family!  There is nothing better than trading in the TVs, cell phones, computers and video games for campfire sticks, skits, and exploring the fresh outdoors.  Not to mention our very first (and hopefully not last) Rushing Family Music Video!  I think my kids would even say that making our music video was the highlight of their year so far!


We camped at Silver Falls Park.  It was no Home Depot but it would do!  Just like the name implies, this state park is full of waterfalls which means, you guessed it, a Rushing Family Hike!  (this is where mom and dad cheer, gaze happily into each other's eyes and ignore their kids moaning).  However, this year I was prepared to make help them have fun by inviting along Lady Ga Ga.  I told the kids the plan to film a music video, start to finish, by the time we finished our hike.  Oh, there was still some complaining about being hot and tired, but for the most part the kids focused more on the video than their sore feet.



Here is the finished product of our hike.  Still no word from Ga Ga herself.  I think Scott's dance moves intimated her.

Love the video....I smile even more each time I watch it. I think this should be a yearly activity.
Your kids are blessed to have parents that have so much fun!!

Heather sends us at least one vacation deal to look at each month. In September 2020 she showed us a sale on airfare to Hawaii over Scott's birthday. We had such a fun time there in January 2020 that it didn't take us long to commit and we booked airfare to Maui. We soon realized we couldn't find any affordable lodging in Maui that also offered free cancellation. Generous cancellation policies are definitely a must in these crazy COVID times. Heather found a good deal on lodging in Kauai so we changed our airfare from Maui to Kauai. Yes! Everything was finalized! Paris

So here is a look at our trip to Paris.  It might be more than most of you care to read!  I just copied and pasted emails we sent home while on our trip.  This is more for my benefit than anyone else's since this blog is the closest I have come to keeping a journal.  Hope you enjoy the journey- we sure did! View from our Seine River Cruise Day One We have the tiniest little room way up at the very top of a very narrow skinny hotel. It reminds us of the love dungeon (our first basement apartment) but it is up at the top so we called it our "love tower"! The bed is a double and you can only stand up straight in the room if you are standing on Scott's side of the bed! The tub is half size (I think they made it for Napoleon).  But I slept great. Memorable highlights and sayings from 2007

January Highlight: Staying at our friends cabin up by Mt. St. Helens. Just a quick drive up the mountain and we had plenty of snow for sledding and great views of St. Helens. January Quote: Scott and I were in the car with Cassidy. I was complaining about how tired I had been. It didn't see m to matter if I slept 4 hours or 8 hours, I always felt tired. Cassidy who had been relatively quiet up till this point pipes up and says, "maybe you are going through menopause." Scot t and I started laughing and then Cassi dy admitted she didn't even know what that meant, she had just heard it in "F ather the Bride II".
