Layton has been feeling the need, the need for speed. He has been trying diligently to prove to his dad that he doesn't have 'white man's' disease (not being able to run or jump). Joining the elementary school track team was the perfect opportunity to show off his skills. He had practice one day a week for 4 weeks and then it was time for the meet. They held the meet at the high school track and his school competed against 3 other schools. Layton competed in the 200 and 400 M runs, the hurdles and was also chosen to be on the Tug-O-War team. He actually did quite well. He placed in every event.
He got a first place ribbon in Tug-O-War, and 2nd place ribbon in the 400 M, a 3rd place ribbon in the 200 M, and a 4th place ribbon for the Hurdles. After seeing his height on the hurdles, we decided next year he should enter the high jump event. He definitely doesn't have white man's disease when it comes to jumping! Congratulations Layton!
