This sweet, little, innocent- looking baby is the whole reason Karsyn is going to public middle school next year. I was perfectly content to let her finish out middle school years being home-schooled. I am not a big fan of middle school or middle school influences. However, Karsyn insisted she go back this coming year. It turns out her whole reasoning was so she could get a turn to bring home the electronic baby from Home EC. class just like her sisters did. I think I had mentally blocked out those experiences as a psychological coping method. Kennedy's baby had some serious issues. It never stopped crying. I finally just emailed the school and told them it was defective because I have given birth to 5 babies and this electronic baby cried more than all 5 of mine put together. Kennedy was in tears, sleep deprived, and going through postpartum depression all within 10 minutes of having the baby at home. Then Cassidy thought her baby was wonderful and slept through the night every night. She totally reminded me of Scott when we had babies. Every morning he would wake up and happily say, "She slept through the night again!" I guess being deaf in one ear and a deep sleeper has many advantages. Cassidy never woke up with her baby either, yet it would wake me up from all the way upstairs.
Well, needless to say, Karsyn was very disappointed to learn that the electronic baby program had been cut from the schools. But lucky for her, the Red Cross didn't have such cut-backs and they still have electronic babies for their baby-sitting boot camps. Karsyn has been eager to babysit for other families (otherwise known as "paid" babysitting) and we signed her up for a 3 day boot camp to jump start her babysitting career!
