Growing old together

Well, it's that time again. Time to add one more candle to mine and Scott's birthday cake. My birthday was celebrated by watching Will at his basketball game and then a steak dinner at Black Angus with the kids. And with Karsyn taking over the cake department, I even had a wonderful homemade cake for my birthday!

Scott is shocked by how old I am!
Then it finally hits me...wow...4-2 years old!
This is the yummy made-from-scratch cake that Karsyn baked and decorated for me.
We had to share Kennedy that night. We got her for dinner and then she went to a friend's birthday party later that night.

Then just 12 short days later is Scott's birthday! We had steak and shrimp dinner at home and the night was finished off with another cake baked, designed and decorated by Karsyn.


Once again Kennedy was missing - she got stuck at school preparing for the UHS Dance Competition. However, she made it home in time for presents.



Scott had a medical meeting in Arizona the weekend between our birthdays. How is that for timing? So we snuck away together for some fun and sun for a few days.


The only pictures I took while we were there was when we went to the driving range.
Yeah, I have no idea what I am doing. The things we do for love!

How nice to have your own personal Cake chef! Karsyn may have found her profession for life! Very nice and look very delicious!!

Heather sends us at least one vacation deal to look at each month. In September 2020 she showed us a sale on airfare to Hawaii over Scott's birthday. We had such a fun time there in January 2020 that it didn't take us long to commit and we booked airfare to Maui. We soon realized we couldn't find any affordable lodging in Maui that also offered free cancellation. Generous cancellation policies are definitely a must in these crazy COVID times. Heather found a good deal on lodging in Kauai so we changed our airfare from Maui to Kauai. Yes! Everything was finalized! Well that was until it was declared that all visitors to Hawaii would be required to show a negative COVID test, from one of their approved testing sites, to get off the plane in Hawaii. Paris

So here is a look at our trip to Paris.  It might be more than most of you care to read!  I just copied and pasted emails we sent home while on our trip.  This is more for my benefit than anyone else's since this blog is the closest I have come to keeping a journal.  Hope you enjoy the journey- we sure did! View from our Seine River Cruise Day One We have the tiniest little room way up at the very top of a very narrow skinny hotel. It reminds us of the love dungeon (our first basement apartment) but it is up at the top so we called it our "love tower"! The bed is a double and you can only stand up straight in the room if you are standing on Scott's side of the bed! The tub is half size (I think they made it for Napoleon).  But I slept great. The weather was amazing! After getting in it was too early to get our room so we left our bags at the hotel and walked around for about an hour while waiting to meet up with the Parkers again. Memorable highlights and sayings from 2007

January Highlight: Staying at our friends cabin up by Mt. St. Helens. Just a quick drive up the mountain and we had plenty of snow for sledding and great views of St. Helens. January Quote: Scott and I were in the car with Cassidy. I was complaining about how tired I had been. It didn't see m to matter if I slept 4 hours or 8 hours, I always felt tired. Cassidy who had been relatively quiet up till this point pipes up and says, "maybe you are going through menopause." Scot t and I started laughing and then Cassi dy admitted she didn't even know what that meant, she had just heard it in "F ather the Bride II".
