Families are Forever

Oh the dreaded family pictures! No one hates these more than Scott, I'm not sure why. It's not like he had to go shopping and find matching clothes for 7 of us. It's not like he had to wash and iron the clothes after they had been wadded up in a suitcase. It's not like he had to cut the boy's hair or curl the girl's hair. All he has to do is show up and give me a real smile so we can truly say, "Elvis has left the building"! But this time around, even Scott said it was painless! Since everyone on my side of the family was in town for Thanksgiving, it was time for an updated photo. We lined everyone up, set the timer, told the kids to hold that smile for about 10 seconds and boom, boom, boom, the timer fired off about 12 photos and we were done! No crying babies, no wandering kids and no daddies mouthing "smile or else".

Then while we were at it, I had my sister, Heather, take some of our family for our Christmas cards. My only regret was not having her do individuals of all the kids. But it was freezing. And it was Thanksgiving. And she was doing it for all the families. Funny thing is though, Cassidy came the worst prepared with flip flops on for our "Christmas" photo and she is the only one the got individual shots!

While in Salt Lake, we had a grand plan of taking the kids to see the lights at Temple Square. Our grand plan included all the Stewart Aunts and Uncles and cousins and grandma and grandpa..but no one came. You would think living there in Utah they would be used to the cold. But no, they let some mild-weathered NorthWesterners show them up. They all said it was too cold and they could wait until it warmed up some to go see the lights. Well, we couldn't afford that pleasure since we were flying out the next day.

We stopped by the fountain and the boys immdiately spotted the coins at the bottom. Scott explained to them that it was a wishing fountain but a special wishing fountain. All wishes had to be righteous wishes! Both the boys asked Scott for some change so they could make a righteous wish. Layton wished that all of our family would make it to the celestial kingdom and Will wished that he would be married in the temple. Love those boys!

Will got the best seat in the house for viewing the outdoor nativity. Such a great way to start off our Christmas season.

I was just thinking about how you forgot to put in the big family picture in your Thanksgiving post and decided to drop by your blog. What a nice surprise to find all of these new posts! Love the righteous wishing well and the sweet wishes from your cute boys!
P.S. We did go to the temple lights and it was so warm we barely needed a jacket.
