Dancing Queens
Out of about 350 girls, 20 are chosen to be an All Stars. These girls must be Juniors or Seniors. Kennedy was given this award last year as a Junior so was very hopeful she would win it again as a Senior. She was not disappointed!
Our highschool had 4 girls make the All-Star team this year. Congratulations to Evangeline, Taylor, 'Tana and Kennedy!
But Kennedy's dream has always been to be chosen as "Miss Thunderbird". This is only given to a few Seniors each year. It is the highest award given at camp. It was described as "having the whole package" when it was awarded: talent, technique, kindness, discipline and most of leadership, leadership, leadership! This year they chose to give out three of these awards. They have a unigue way of distributing their awards at this camp. The instructors run around all the girls, weaving in and out in no particular pattern until they arrive at the girl they want and then they plop a trophy down in front of them. When one of the them dropped the plaque down on Kennedy's lap - the dam broke free! I think it was a combination of joy, stress-relief and no sleep, but I have never seen Kennedy cry like that before! She has wanted this so bad and thought it might be just another one of those unrealistic dreams. But to see that her hard work actually payed off was a sweet moment for her.
Kennedy with her All-Star medal and "Miss Thunderbird" plaque and one proud sister!

The girls have some great coaches that they just love. Cassidy is pictured with Coach Sarah Dayley and Kennedy is pictured with Coach Colleen Schoonover (schoony) and as Kennedy likes to call her baby bump, "fetus"!

I don't think anyone could be more deserving. I know how hard both girls work with their dancing.
Kennedy, it just seems keeps having more and more to add to her resume. So fun to see two sisters having such good memories together of doing what they love.
