Last day of Kindergarten...for both of us!

This is not only the end of a school year, but the end of an entire school grade. Not only is Will done with Kindergarten forever, so is this mom. It is funny how you get to share so many 'firsts' with your oldest child and then you end up sharing so many 'lasts' with your youngest. Besides the crazy- weird, budget- saving schedule they tried this past year, Kindergarten was a great experience for Will. He is a smart, charismatic little dude! His teacher told me at our last fieldtrip that she could only test his reading up to a first grade level - and he passed that. So he is reading somewhere on a second-grade level. That means he is either really good or second-graders are pretty pathetic! We always laugh at him though. During scripture study, whenever he comes to a word that starts with the letter "M", he always guesses it is "Monkey"! No matter how many times I tell him there were no monkeys in the Book of Mormon that is still his favorite guess.
Our kindergarten is moving to a full day next year. This year, Will went two full days a week and every other Wednesday. I really enjoyed having him home with me 2-3 full days a week. I am really going to miss my little buddy. It really is more like hanging out with a friend than taking care of a child. He is so easy and makes me laugh so hard and so often. He is always there telling me he loves me, or how I am the best mommy in the world or giving me a hug and wanting to cuddle. When we first found out kindergarten was moving to 5 full days Will held his hand up for a high-five. He said, "High five mom! We got so lucky we didn't have school every day!" I think he was celebrating less school but I was celebrating a little more time with my baby.
So I feel like I have really begun the journey of "lasts".

I hope it gets easier...but I doubt it will.

Love Will's smiles...can't wait for next week for one of his great smiles and hugs...
I must say that the 'lasts' get harder and harder! However, the futures are pretty awesome too.

I'm not enjoying the lasts with Mia. It's too sad. Can't imagine when she goes to Kindergarten. :(

Will is the cutest kid and apparently really smart!
You and I are in the same boat. My little buddy's name is Shayla and there have been days when she has been my very best friend!! How are we going to live with our kids being in school all day long? I'm dreading it!!
