Give One Million

It's garage sale season. When I am shopping I love garage sale season. When I am the one putting on the garage sale, I get a little cranky! Every year our neighborhood has a neighborhood garage sale. We have never participated since we would rather just load up all our junk, drop it off at D.I. and take a nice tax credit. So much easier. But this year I am in the middle of some remodeling and have come up with quite the pile of junk (I mean, 'Another man's treasure). I thought it might be good motivation to get the kids to de-clutter their rooms if I did the garage sale and let them keep the money they made off their items. Good plan but really poor execution! The garage sale happened to be at the end of the school year and the kids were busier than I was. No one was ever home to help and I was getting crankier by the minute. Well, my sister-in-law was staying with us at the time and she was donating all her proceeds to a wonderful cause. Her brother has started a campaign to raise one million dollars in one year for St. Jude. He felt so grateful for having healthy kids that he wanted to do something to give back. So the day before the sale and getting no help from the kids, we decided to donate all our proceeds to St. Jude as well. From the moment we decided to donate I got so happy! Even Scott got excited about it! I was so pumped I couldn't even sleep the night before. I layed awake all night thinking of what else I could put in the sale. I even stripped off my bedding first thing in the morning to sell. My apologies to who bought it though, I totally forgot to take off the bed skirt! The crowds came in herds in the early morning and we sold a ton! Some people even gave us more than the asking price to help the cause! When the day was done we had earned $661.50 to donate towards St. Jude!

So here is your challenge...go to www.giveonemillion.blogspot.com and give! Give a $1. Give $5. Give $500! Just GIVE something. You can donate directly to St. Jude from this website and get rid of whatever is making you cranky! Another way to help is to join give one million for St. Jude on facebook. We are trying to get one million fans!
