High School Prom

May 1st was Kennedy's High School Prom. She and her friends really wanted to go but had not been asked yet. But heck, it's the 2000's right? Why couldn't the girls invite the boys to go to prom? So Kennedy asked her friend Mason to prom. He said yes but then she had to stress about all the details. Like, who was going to pay for the tickets, the flowers, the dinner, the pictures...? I told her she needed to be prepared and willing to pay for everything since she asked him. She agreed that would be fair but deep down was desperately hoping Mason would prove to be a chivalrous man! Well, Mason was quite the gentleman and offered to pay for everything and let Kennedy get the dance pictures.
So the plan for the day of prom was to go get manicures and pedicures, go get her hair done, go get her make-up done and then get dressed and meet up with the group for pictures. Holy cow! I didn't even put half that time into my wedding day! I just woke up, did my hair MYSELF, like I always styled it, did my make-up MYSELF like I always wore it, put on my dress MYSELF and got married! Kennedy was trying to even convince me that she needed to get acrylic nails just for that night! So this whole process started about 2:00 in hopes that they would be ready for a group photo at 5:00. No such luck! These girls should have started about 9:00 in the morning. Everyone was running late. We ended up not getting any group photos before they left and they made it to their dinner reservation about 30 minutes late. One of these photos shows Kennedy on the phone calling to see why her date still isn't here yet.

They went to Macaroni Grill for dinner but Kennedy and her date ended up eating Chipotle burritos (inside Macaroni Grill). After being seated and seeing the prices, they decided to only order an appetizer and then ran across the street to Chipotle and ordered a burrito to go, came back and ate it at the restuarant with everyone else. True class...that's my daughter!

The big trend in Utah is to spend the entire day with your date. The date starts first thing in the morning and the day is filled with fun activities. Then the dinner and dance in the night. I guess it would help the kids get in for curfew.

I did my own french manicure on my fingernails for my wedding day. Wouldn't have ever thought about having a manicure, pedicure and my make up done. I didn't even buy a fun prom dress. Ever. Just borrowed neighbors church dresses. I'm feeling really deprived.

She looks so beautiful, though! I love the color of her dress.

Kennedy looks gorgeous and would be just as beautiful even without all the primping. I do remember that Brittany got fake nails for her wedding pictures and wedding and pulled them off immediately after.
My wedding was so long ago, I barely remember having my hair done. I probably painted my nails but that is about all!
