Girl's Getaway


So this is where I was while Kennedy was celebrating her 17th birthday without me! It can be quite tricky trying to find one weekend that works for all the Rushing sisters and sister-in-laws. Unfortunately, the best weekend for the majority was not the best weekend for me. But seeing as Kennedy is so mature and all now, she agreed to share the fun with me. I flew out to Clara's Thursday morning and stayed until Sunday night. My mom picked me up from the airport and we had to make our mandatory stop at NPS - my favorite salvage store. After about 3 hours there and buying way more than would ever fit in my carry-on suitcase, I made it to Clara's to start scrapbooking. My goal this year was to do one complete year of my blog book. I am going to use this blog and have it made up into a bound book each year for my family scrapbook. Goal accomplished! I finished the entire year of 2009. With my extra time I made over 50 cards to go with my mom's calendar I make her for Christmas. Two years ago, I started giving her birthday and anniversary cards all made, stamped and addressed for EVERYONE in the family for the entire year to go with her calendar. It is very helpful to knock those out of the way before Christmas. Everyone was able to make it to the crop this year except for Shelby. But little Clara Jo stepped in to take her place. This is Sommer's little girl and she is the cutest baby ever! She was so good and loved scrapbooking, well, the scrapbooking supplies at least! This is a picture of her after she had fallen asleep with a photo split on her forehead and her little finger gripping the box!

We did not sleep much but we sure ate well! Clara took good care of us as usual.
I had to take a picture whenever I saw someone asleep because that didn't happen very often! Clara sure deserved it though. She cooked for us and spent so much time getting everything set up just so we could destroy her house.




And we kept with the tradition of actually getting dressed and going out to eat at Bonsai on our last night together. And thanks to Clara almost having a birthday, we all got free ice cream for dessert!

I love Sonya's garden page. Seeing how cute and simple, almost makes me want to start scrappin' again. Almost.

I would say Clara deserves "Best Hostess" award! Hopefully she has gotten caught up on her sleep! Such a fun tradition for you not only to scrapbook but spend quality time with Scott's family. We even get you for a couple of hours :)
Of course, I LOVE my calendar and the cards such a big help.
Looking forward to seeing you again soon.

Heather sends us at least one vacation deal to look at each month. In September 2020 she showed us a sale on airfare to Hawaii over Scott's birthday. We had such a fun time there in January 2020 that it didn't take us long to commit and we booked airfare to Maui. We soon realized we couldn't find any affordable lodging in Maui that also offered free cancellation. Generous cancellation policies are definitely a must in these crazy COVID times. Heather found a good deal on lodging in Kauai so we changed our airfare from Maui to Kauai. Yes! Everything was finalized! Well that was until it was declared that all visitors to Hawaii would be required to show a negative COVID test, from one of their approved testing sites, to get off the plane in Hawaii. Paris

So here is a look at our trip to Paris.  It might be more than most of you care to read!  I just copied and pasted emails we sent home while on our trip.  This is more for my benefit than anyone else's since this blog is the closest I have come to keeping a journal.  Hope you enjoy the journey- we sure did! View from our Seine River Cruise Day One We have the tiniest little room way up at the very top of a very narrow skinny hotel. It reminds us of the love dungeon (our first basement apartment) but it is up at the top so we called it our "love tower"! The bed is a double and you can only stand up straight in the room if you are standing on Scott's side of the bed! The tub is half size (I think they made it for Napoleon).  But I slept great. Memorable highlights and sayings from 2007

January Highlight: Staying at our friends cabin up by Mt. St. Helens. Just a quick drive up the mountain and we had plenty of snow for sledding and great views of St. Helens. January Quote: Scott and I were in the car with Cassidy. I was complaining about how tired I had been. It didn't see m to matter if I slept 4 hours or 8 hours, I always felt tired. Cassidy who had been relatively quiet up till this point pipes up and says, "maybe you are going through menopause." Scot t and I started laughing and then Cassi dy admitted she didn't even know what that meant, she had just heard it in "F ather the Bride II".
