Jazz Junkie
Grandpa has the coolest job ever! He is a blog writer for the Utah Jazz. While out in Utah for spring break, Layton got to go to two Jazz games. And what happens when Layton combines his two loves of writing and basketball together? Layton becomes a blog writer as well! Grandpa submitted one of Layton's posts and this was published on Jazzbots, the official Jazz blog.
My name is Layton Rushing. I am 9 years old.
I live near Portland. That’s why my dad is hard to get to cheer for the Jazz, when they’re against the Blazers. What a wonder!
I love to visit my grandparents.
My grandparents, J.R. Stewart and Bethany Stewart, are huge Utah Jazz fans.
My uncle Blake is also a big Jazz fan. He teaches me all kinds of basketball moves and tricks. He is such a great guy.
I came to visit Utah for Spring Break when the Jazz had 3 games. Two games at home were against the New York Knicks and the Golden State Warriors. I got a chance to go to both home games that we won. We went early to the games. I was able to get autographs from some of the players on my new Jazz hat. Against the New York Knicks, we beat them by 5, and that’s good for the draft pick. Then we beat the Warriors. I mean we crushed them with a 24-point win. Before the game I bought a plaque of my favorite player, John Stockton, my brother Will bought a Karl Malone plaque.
The other game was at L.A. against the stinking old rotten Lakers. But we still lost 92-104.
At my grandparents house I got to play basketball. My uncle Blake played with me on their new indoor court.
My passion is basketball! I play 24 – 7 every day, every week.
My favorite basketball move is the Carlos Boozer move. You run up to the defender, turn, back in, pivot toward the basket, then pump fake and charge to the basket for a lay up.
If you live in Portland or Utah, is it going to be the cool JAZZ! Or the Blazers?
WHAT IS IT GOING TO BE?
