Face 2 Face Tour

Two of my all-time favorite pianist-musicians are Elton John and Billy Joel. I have always said that my dream would be to see the two of them together...yes, even "Face 2 Face"! And what perfect timing when I saw they would be in Portland on our Anniversary! Tickets we
nt on sale while we were on Spring Break in Arizona and I was so glad I had my laptop with me to buy tickets that day. Unfortunately, we ended up with nothing to do on our Anniversary because Sir Elton cancelled the show due to illness. So we settled for a quiet dinner out that night. The concert was rescheduled for Feb and was still worth the wait. Elton and Billy came
out together with two pianos and sang about 5 songs together...a mixture of songs from both artists.

Then Sir Elton got his time alone on stage. He was amazing! He looked so small from up where we were sitting. I had to ask Scott how anyone could pack so much talent into such a little body! After Elton, Billy closed the show. As wonderful as Elton was, I think Billy stole the show. He interacted so much more with the audience and just couldn't sit still. We were sitting behind Billy most the show (the stage would occasionally rotate) and my favorite part was watching him bounce all over his piano stool.
I had so much fun singing to all their songs but I think my favorite was just watching them play. They are both so talented on the piano. I searched and searched for some of their old piano music I thought I had at home but couldn't find any. So I hit the music store the next day and spent way too much time doing my own jam session at home! Scott felt "meloncolony" (that's how he likes to say it) for days afterwards. He felt like the concert snuck up on him and he didn't have proper time to get emotionally ready! He felt like it was all over before he really appreciated what he had just witnessed! Definitely a chance of a lifetime!
