You'll Shoot Your Eye Out!

Scott came to me yesterday with his hands behind his back and said he needed to get my opinion on something.  He wanted to know if I thought it would be appropriate to buy a BB gun for the boys since Layton was so good at it at Scout Camp.  He then reassured me that he would never do something like that without consulting with me first and that my opinion really mattered to him!  Then I said, "Then why did Layton scream out with joy when you pulled up and got out of the car and why are hiding a gun behind your back?"  Apparently he is from the "it is easier to ask forgiveness than permission" school of thought!  

Fortunately our house backs up to a field so they were able to set up a shooting target where the kids can shoot out into the field.  Once again, Layton was able to show off his skills and hit the bulls-eye target more times than anyone else...including his dad!

I love it! I was of the thought I would never let the kids have one. But like Layton, Logan is just a different sort of kid and very mature and responsible and curious about everything! And I decided when Jason and Logan talked about it, that he could be trusted with it as long as it was only shot towards our field! Great minds think alike!

Heather sends us at least one vacation deal to look at each month. In September 2020 she showed us a sale on airfare to Hawaii over Scott's birthday. We had such a fun time there in January 2020 that it didn't take us long to commit and we booked airfare to Maui. We soon realized we couldn't find any affordable lodging in Maui that also offered free cancellation. Generous cancellation policies are definitely a must in these crazy COVID times. Heather found a good deal on lodging in Kauai so we changed our airfare from Maui to Kauai. Yes! Everything was finalized! Paris

So here is a look at our trip to Paris.  It might be more than most of you care to read!  I just copied and pasted emails we sent home while on our trip.  This is more for my benefit than anyone else's since this blog is the closest I have come to keeping a journal.  Hope you enjoy the journey- we sure did! View from our Seine River Cruise Day One We have the tiniest little room way up at the very top of a very narrow skinny hotel. It reminds us of the love dungeon (our first basement apartment) but it is up at the top so we called it our "love tower"! The bed is a double and you can only stand up straight in the room if you are standing on Scott's side of the bed! The tub is half size (I think they made it for Napoleon).  But I slept great. January Highlight: Staying at our friends cabin up by Mt. St. Helens. Just a quick drive up the mountain and we had plenty of snow for sledding and great views of St. Helens. January Quote: Scott and I were in the car with Cassidy. I was complaining about how tired I had been. It didn't see m to matter if I slept 4 hours or 8 hours, I always felt tired. Cassidy who had been relatively quiet up till this point pipes up and says, "maybe you are going through menopause."
