Sunriver

A couple of months ago Scott had requested to have the third week of July off from work.  His sister and family were coming out for a visit during that time, but then their vacation was changed to the first week in July.  Apparently, someone forgot to change Scott's vacation schedule at work, leaving us with two weeks off in July!  So we planned a last minute vacation to Sunriver.  The kids were thrilled!  This is our favorite family vacation.  It has become a tradition to take the family ever year over the Pacific Crest weekend.  Scott runs the half-marathon and the younger kids participate in the kids triathalon "Splash, Pedal and Dash".  Unfortunately, this event was also the same week that Scott's sister came into town so we missed our annual Sunriver week.  The kids were so excited that we were able to continue with our tradition by going back last week.  We spent most of our days hanging out at the pool then at night watched movies, played games and colored mandalas.

Will learned how to ride his bike just before leaving for Sunriver.  He was so excited about all the bike trails he could practice on in Sunriver.  Scott and the boys would ride their bikes to the pool everyday while I drove with the girls and all the food, towels and pool toys.  The ride to the pool was over 2 miles and then Scott took the boys on a "scenic route" ( we think that is code for "they got lost") on the way home the first day.  They ended up riding over 8 more miles on their way home that day!  After that, Layton had to always be reassured there would be no more scenic routes or he would not ride his bike to the pool.  But Will was always ready and willing!  Will got too much sun the very first day of the trip so this is how Scott loaded him up with sunscreen before their bike ride home from the pool!

Seems like a have a picture like this of Kennedy every summer!  She always has a summer reading assignment with at least one of her AP classes and Kennedy does not like reading, especially when it is not a book of her choosing.
Coloring Mandalas has become one of the kids favorite traditions during our Sunriver vacation.  It is nice way to relax after a full day in the sun and water.
