Beat the Heat!

With 105-107 degree weather four days in a row and a broken air conditioner, we have had to get creative to stay cool.  It all started with Will.  He decided he could keep cooler if he had a haircut.  What a sweet boy he was to take care of it all himself rather than wait for me to get home and add to my work load.  He went into my bathroom and got out my haircutting kit and scissors and gave himself a little trim.  After explaining to him that that was not a smart idea and now he was bald in certain areas, he was embarrassed.  He did not want me to take any pictures of his haircut.  He did not want his face in the picture.  He thinks by closing his eyes real tight that his face won't show up in the picture!

The upstairs air conditioning unit is the one that is broken.  It has been like a sauna up there all week.  We have tried opening the windows at night but the temperatures are not dropping enough to cool off any rooms.  The kids are having a hard time falling asleep in the sauna.  One night the boys had had enough and this is how I found them.  They had come down to sleep on my love sofa in the formal living room.
I left for two minutes to go show this picture to Scott and when I came back this is how I found Layton!  He is totally asleep like this!
Then today Scott finished work a little early and we took the kids to Cottonwood Beach to play in the sand and swim in the Columbia River.  The water felt great and the kids had a blast.  I can't believe I have lived here for 5 years and am just now finding out we have great beaches all along the River!  This is so much better than driving 2 hours to the coast just to freeze, deal with strong winds and swim in ice cold water.

While you've been dying in the heat, we've had pouring down rain!! I'm not sure what state I'm living in now!
LOVE the picture of Will's haircute (too funny) -also- LOVE the picture of the boys asleep on the sofa. I'm glad I'm not the only one that sends her kids to bed with dirty feet! ha ha
