A Race To The End
This past school year I felt like I was pacing myself for a very long marathon. I had 5 kids in 5 different schools, homeschooling two days a week, two different dance teams, gymnastics, karate, art, piano, private dance classes, and scouts just to mention a few! But these past few weeks have felt more like a sprint. It always seems to get so crazy as school comes to a close. Here is a highlight of a few things we did this last week:
Scott and I took the 3 youngest kids to a park in Portland for a work picnic and baseball game. It was a beautiful and relaxing day. The kids really enjoyed spending so much time just hanging out with mom and dad.
Cassidy actually had her 8th grade Farewell dance the same night as the carnival. She spent hours getting ready with her friend only to end up with hair so big she couldn't even fit through the door! After some work we got her hair toned down and she looked beautiful.

We also had Will's graduation from pre-school this week. This was hard because we had to say good-bye to Children's World of Music. We had planned on him doing kindergarten there in the mornings next year and then kindergarten at Harmony in the afternoons. They changed the public kindergarten schedules to two full days with one half day for next year making it so we could not do both. We have great memories there with three of our children but Will is really looking forward to going to school all day with his older brother.

Layton was also awarded his orange-striped belt in karate this week. He was very excited about getting it but said he really misses his yellow belt. I think he is proud of his new orange belt though. He wore it to the school carnival and he didn't even have karate that day!
I also got to go see Layton's play for his music class at school. Layton was the main character, the donkey, in the play "The Bremen Town Musicians". He did a great job. Not only did he memorize his lines but he really got into the acting - he made faces I have never seen on him before! I think he really enjoyed all the attention.
So that was my last three days! Now it is time to gear up for next week - the last week of school, a piano recital, a trip to Disneyland and Trek! Piece of cake!
