Girl's Getaway

After taking a few years off, the girls once again came together at Clara's for a scrapbooking weekend of pajamas, food, no sleep, food, girl talk, food, memories and good company.  My project this year was to get all my old 8 mm video tapes transferred onto my computer.  My computer ran non-stop night and day and transferred all but two of the tapes I could find.  I have continued on this same schedule since arriving home...well, the food and no-sleep at least.  I have found myself staying up until the wee hours of the night having so much fun watching the old home movies that are now so easy to watch on my computer.






We did make the effort to clean up a little for Shelby's birthday dinner at the Japenese Steak House.  Thanks girls for another fabulous weekend - see you again next year!


It just so happened to also be Blake's birthday while I was out in Salt Lake City.  All 6 kids and their families made it up to mom's house for dinner and birthday cake.  It has been a while since we had all 6 kids together for a picture.  It was short but sweet and always good to come home for a little while.

It was fun having you home for a minute. I almost have all my 8 mm tapes transferred now too. But have a TON of mini DV tapes to get on to my computer. Excited to see you again in August!

Heather sends us at least one vacation deal to look at each month. In September 2020 she showed us a sale on airfare to Hawaii over Scott's birthday. We had such a fun time there in January 2020 that it didn't take us long to commit and we booked airfare to Maui. We soon realized we couldn't find any affordable lodging in Maui that also offered free cancellation. Generous cancellation policies are definitely a must in these crazy COVID times. Heather found a good deal on lodging in Kauai so we changed our airfare from Maui to Kauai. Yes! Everything was finalized! Well that was until it was declared that all visitors to Hawaii would be required to show a negative COVID test, from one of their approved testing sites, to get off the plane in Hawaii. Paris

So here is a look at our trip to Paris.  It might be more than most of you care to read!  I just copied and pasted emails we sent home while on our trip.  This is more for my benefit than anyone else's since this blog is the closest I have come to keeping a journal.  Hope you enjoy the journey- we sure did! View from our Seine River Cruise Day One We have the tiniest little room way up at the very top of a very narrow skinny hotel. It reminds us of the love dungeon (our first basement apartment) but it is up at the top so we called it our "love tower"! The bed is a double and you can only stand up straight in the room if you are standing on Scott's side of the bed! The tub is half size (I think they made it for Napoleon).  But I slept great. January Highlight: Staying at our friends cabin up by Mt. St. Helens. Just a quick drive up the mountain and we had plenty of snow for sledding and great views of St. Helens. January Quote: Scott and I were in the car with Cassidy. I was complaining about how tired I had been. It didn't see m to matter if I slept 4 hours or 8 hours, I always felt tired. Cassidy who had been relatively quiet up till this point pipes up and says, "maybe you are going through menopause." Scot t and I started laughing and then Cassi dy admitted she didn't even know what that meant, she had just heard it in "F ather the Bride II".
