Not a Cowardly Lion any more!

Cassidy, Karsyn and Layton had their annual Christmas piano recital.  Before leaving to the recital I told the kids to make sure and get all their piano music.  I had no idea what songs they would be playing so trusted them to get all the correct music books.  Layton had just gotten a new piano book with Star Wars theme song in it from his teacher 5 days before the recital.  His teacher had not started teaching him this song yet but for some reason he thought she wanted him to play it at the recital.  He walked up there on the stage with all the confidence in the world and told his teacher he would also be playing the theme from Star Wars.  So she announced to the audience that Layton would be playing this song that she hadn't taught him yet and her last words were, "So this should be interesting!"  Layton was doing great...until he came to the second page, his eyes got real big and the panic set in...he had never played through the second page!
This is Layton trying to play the second page for the first time.  It wasn't pretty and it definitely wasn't Star Wars!  Then his teacher told him to abort the second page and re-play the first page which most people could recognize as Star Wars.  It is always good to end a good note - literally!  You have to admire his courage and confidence.

That is so cute! Way to go to Layton for just trying that 2nd page anyway!

Just another thing I love about Layton is his confidence. It reminds me of him telling me last month how he could teach Chad and Jenni's nieces how to write and read Chinese! He was so confident that he could help them after I told him how they could speak Chinese but couldn't read it or write in Chinese. That's our Layton!!
