Here we go a Caroling!

My favorite memory growing up was Christmas Eve at grandma Norma's house.  All of my cousins on my mom's side would come together, have dinner (until there became too many of us), read the nativity story, sing songs and get a special visit from Santa, the real Santa!  Even now that tradition is being carried on.  The only problem is that we are the only ones that live out of State!  It was important to me to fill that void with a new tradition of our own.  So 13 years ago we started caroling at nursing homes.  We always invite a few other families to join us, mostly hoping they can sing better and louder than we do!  It is especially nice now that we live in Vancouver because Scott's brother, Shane, and his family join us as well.  We also went with the Dustins and the Parkers.

We had thought we might have to cancel this year's caroling due to the bad weather.  But we decided that with the roads so bad, we needed to go more than ever...we could be the only visitors many of the people would see.  I am so glad we went.  Seeing a crowd of people in their rooms made them smile, even if our singing didn't always sound so great.  But nothing warms the heart like seeing your little boys go up to old strangers and ask them if they could have a hug!

That's precious...great tradition to have. I'm sure they absolutely loved it!
