Giants


Karsyn finally got her giant all by herself last week.  This is an important element in the level 7 bar routine.  She came home last Thursday and told me she had done one in practice all by herself.  When I asked her if she had tried it more than once she said no because she was too tired.  Well, I went in the last 30 minutes of practice Friday so I could see her try it again.  When I showed up to practice, the coach had already left and the girls were told to go home early.  Well, it isn't very often I get a chance to go in and watch and I didn't want too much time to go before she tried the giant again.  So I made her go out on the floor and try some giants.  She got it on her second try and then I couldn't get her to stop!  She was so excited to know that it wasn't just luck and that she could really do them now.  The following day she had her private with her bar coach, Dimitri.  The very first thing she told him was that she had her giant!  He asked her when she got it - he didn't believe her.  When she told him that I made her go out and do them the night before -  he wasn't happy.  He told her he had been telling her for 4 months that she needed to do her giants and she didn't listen but when her mom told her to them, she did it!  He said, "Maybe I need to grow my hair out and dye it black so I can be your coach!"

I'm still not sure what part of the video is considered "the giant" but she looks great anyway! I love all the pictures of her too. Who knew you could get a master's in photography? I totally should have done that in college! How fun!

Heather sends us at least one vacation deal to look at each month. In September 2020 she showed us a sale on airfare to Hawaii over Scott's birthday. We had such a fun time there in January 2020 that it didn't take us long to commit and we booked airfare to Maui. We soon realized we couldn't find any affordable lodging in Maui that also offered free cancellation. Generous cancellation policies are definitely a must in these crazy COVID times. Heather found a good deal on lodging in Kauai so we changed our airfare from Maui to Kauai. Yes! Everything was finalized! Well that was until it was declared that all visitors to Hawaii would be required to show a negative COVID test, from one of their approved testing sites, to get off the plane in Hawaii. Paris

So here is a look at our trip to Paris.  It might be more than most of you care to read!  I just copied and pasted emails we sent home while on our trip.  This is more for my benefit than anyone else's since this blog is the closest I have come to keeping a journal.  Hope you enjoy the journey- we sure did! View from our Seine River Cruise Day One We have the tiniest little room way up at the very top of a very narrow skinny hotel. It reminds us of the love dungeon (our first basement apartment) but it is up at the top so we called it our "love tower"! The bed is a double and you can only stand up straight in the room if you are standing on Scott's side of the bed! The tub is half size (I think they made it for Napoleon).  But I slept great. January Highlight: Staying at our friends cabin up by Mt. St. Helens. Just a quick drive up the mountain and we had plenty of snow for sledding and great views of St. Helens. January Quote: Scott and I were in the car with Cassidy. I was complaining about how tired I had been. It didn't see m to matter if I slept 4 hours or 8 hours, I always felt tired. Cassidy who had been relatively quiet up till this point pipes up and says, "maybe you are going through menopause."
