True Defense Against the Dark Arts

Conference Sunday is finally here!  I always look so forward to this weekend twice a year.  As soon as I sat down to watch conference today this picture took on a whole new meaning.  I still had most of the Harry Potter decorations up from the party we had here yesterday.  We held the Defense Against the Dark Arts class in the Family room so this sign was still hanging on the mantel today.  This sign never had such meaning until I saw it written under our beloved prophet while he was speaking to the world of the things that really give us power to fight against the evils of today.

Before bed last night I went to check on the kids and this is how I found Layton.  I wonder what he fell asleep reading?  Just one more powerful tool we have been given to fight against the Dark Arts today.  What a great example he is to me.  I love this boy!

I got goosebumps on that one. What a powerful comparison! I love it! We had a great conference weekend here, too. I enjoy having time off from our regular callings to be taught at the feet of the General Authorities. It also makes me happy to keep paying for Directv, so we can enjoy it at home. Oh, and the DVR, so that I could pause a talk whenever I needed to.

The picture of Layton falling asleep with the Book of Mormon tells it all! I would love to see his picture displayed somewhere such as the Friend or a Mormon Ad. He is an example to all of us!

That is perfect! And what a great conference. Loved the last talk given by Pres. Monson--living in the now; enjoying the mess of toys; fingerprints on everything; too much laundry, etc. I needed to hear that one. But it is so true. When life is crazy, Gavin always says, "Heath, you know we are going to miss this so much one day!" And I KNOW we will!
