Dare to be Different

Kennedy showed up to go to church looking like this Sunday morning.  She had on one of my sequined formals from a cruise we went on back in the 90's and her metallic silver shoes.  We couldn't believe she was going to go to church dressed like that!  When we asked her 'why?' she just said, "Dare to be different"!  We think she just really enjoys being the center of attention.
She thought she was being really cute and funny until she started to go into the chapel where she got cold feet.  I told her to let us go in first and get a seat, then she could come in.  Of course we were our usual 3 minutes late and I knew everyone would turn and stare at us.  She wouldn't go for that, she wanted to walk in with all of us as a shelter for her!  Well, we did get plenty of stares and comments from many people that day.  Now that it is over, she is telling everyone that it was a joke - is that supposed to be a joke on me?

We were fortunate enough to see Kennedy in her beautiful formal. The shoulder pads were out of this world. Alyssa said to me, "Only Kennedy could pull that off. I could never wear a dress like that--can you say football player" (referring to the shoulder pads.) Way to be different Kennedy!

Way to go Kennedy! I for one welcome the elegant look for church. It certainly is a step up from so many that wear flip-flops and short, short skirts and tight tops. Who knows...maybe you just started a new trend! :)
