8 on the 8th!

Layton turned eight years old today. This is his very special birthday because he is Eight on the Eighth and he will be baptized. I put together a DVD of Layton’s life so far and it made me realize even more how much I love him. There is no other child like Layton. He is so full of personality (and personalities) that there is never a dull moment.
Out of 205 pictures that I put in his DVD, most of them involve a costume of some sort. He had his very long Superman stage, where he wore his superman pj’s every day, everywhere. I had to tell him he could be Clark Kent to get him to put his suit on for church. Only to find out he was flashing his big “S” on his chest to the pew behind us. Then it was Batman and Spiderman and anyone from the Justice League. Soon after came the pirates and obsessions with treasures. I caught him trying to dig a 2 foot hole in the back yard with his beach shovel so he could bury his new wooden treasure box. Next was Joseph Smith and writing with feather pens by candle light. And yes, he also tried to bury the gold plates in the back yard as well. Since then he has become quite the Star Wars Geek and dabbles quite a bit into Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to please his little brother. His latest and greatest is Harry Potter. He has been practicing his spells and is going to buy a real wand with his birthday money. Life is never boring with Layton, and if it does get a little dull....he just creates some magical make-believe world for us to become a part of. We love you so much Layton. Life just wouldn’t be complete without you.

Happy Birthday Layton! I love all the pictures but my favorite by far is the naked boy with the shield. Not sure who he is pretending to be but I think I should look into getting that one for Gavin's halloween costume this year! :) He is such a unique, talented, smart, passionate, knowledge seeking, righteous 8 year old! I only wish I could be there for his baptism!

Can't wait to see his dvd. He is such a special boy. I love listening to his stories he tells me at night (all 45 minutes).
He tells stories using the same vocabulary he has heard or read. It is like he has a photographic memory.
He has so many talents.
Glad he had a special 8th birthday on the 8th and in the year 2008!
