Metal Head

Before

After

Cassidy has finally entered that rite of passage that so many teens have to go through (excluding myself!).  She got her braces on yesterday.  She has been wearing her headgear at night for over a year but now has added the braces and an expander in the roof of her mouth.  The poor girl has so much metal in her mouth she can barely talk.  The worst part of it all is that she left for Girls Camp today.  She will have to go through the first few awful days without her mommy making sure she takes her ibuprofen and buying her smoothies for lunch everyday!  Then to top it off, she had to go to her regular dentist today to get a temporary filling replaced with a permanent one.  I felt so bad for dropping her off at the church today, half numb, drooling out the right side of her mouth and then I didn't have the heart to tell her I couldn't understand anything she said to me when we hugged good-bye!  Some lucky boy will thank us for all this in about 10 years!

She still looks so cute and I think her teeth look great in the before picture, too. Hopefully she won't be too miserable at girl's camp!

Alyssa can totally feel Cassidy's pain! I hope she is doing all right up at camp. I remember Alyssa crying from the "hardware" in her mouth. Good thing it only hurts for a few days.
