Older, Wiser and Hotter!

Happy Birthday to my sweet husband! Scott turned 40 on January 26th. We had a big party at the house for him. He had fun confusing all the guests the week before the party by asking them if they were coming to his "surprise" party. They didn't know quite how to answer that question. We had about 12 couples over for dinner and games. We played a game where you had to act out a senior moment but done so with a randomly chosen adverb. For example one group had to act out "incontinence" "clumsily" and then each team had to guess both the senior moment and the adverb. Then we took a trivia quiz titled "How well do you (want to) know Scott?" I put all the questions and multiple choice answers into a slideshow. Then the answers were shown along with a picture of Scott explaining the answer. I found the funniest, most embarrassing photos or pictures with a story behind them to put in the slideshow. I was thinking of adding the DVD quiz to the blog but is rated PG-13 due to graphic photos and adult content (speedo story ring a bell with anyone?). Next the guests used play money they earned to shop at our "40" auction. All the items in the auction had to do with "40" but they were all actioned off in paper bags so no one knew which item they were bidding on. That was the hardest part of planning this party. I had to go all over town finding things related the the number 40. Some examples of the items I had were 40 watt light bulbs, WD-40, 40-year old virgin toy doll, 40 sq. feet of aluminum foil, an exercise dvd for people over 40 etc. Then Scott opened gifts and yes, he got TWO speedos! I am hoping Disney Cruise Line has a no-speedo policy already in place to protect the innocence of my children this coming November. We had a great time and feel so blessed that Scott had 12 couples willing to come celebrate with him!Now that the party is over and I feel like I have a moment to breathe I wanted to pay a little tribute to the greatest man I know! So for your 40th birthday here are 40 ways in which I love and/or admire you...(given in no particular order)

1. He likes chick-flicks
2. His great sense of humor
3. Knows how to laugh at himself
4. Best mole trapper in town

9. He is a hard-worker
10. He appreciates nature's beauty
11. He can fall asleep anywhere and fall asleep fast
12. He is in touch with his feminine side (he doesn't think this is a compliment but believe me it is - he loves to talk about things and listens and is sensitive, all those things women usually complain about that their husbands don't do)

14. He is financially savvy
15. He loves to travel
16. He eats left-overs
17. He is armed with the priesthood and not afraid to use it!

22. He opens my car door
23. He loves to create family traditions
24. He is a republican
25. He has just enough OCD to make up for my lack of OCD
26. He golfs in the early morning hours to not take time away from his family
27. He doesn't get mad at me when I wreck the car
28. I love to hear him laugh
29. I love that he feels "melancolony" (and I love they way he says it wrong)
30. He is very charitable
31. His thirst for knowledge
32. His testimony of the gospel
33. He is outgoing and charismatic
34. He gets the boys ready for church
35. He is passionate about his work
36. He is very protective of our date night each week
37. He is quick to apologize
38. I love that he is a morning person (especially now that Kennedy has early-morning seminary)
39. He always compliments me and builds me up
40. He asks me every day how my day was, even though 95% of the time he gets basically the same replay of my days.

Happy Birthday Scott - I love you and look forward to the next 40 years with you!

I bet that party was a lot of work! I bet it was fun though. One of my favorite things about Scott is his laugh. I love watching movies with him and hearing it. Happy birthday to both of you!

You have helped inspire me for Craig's birthday. He turns 40 in March and I have been trying to come up with something fun to do. Also I don't mind if you link my Blog. I added yours to my site. Only Kristine and Kathryn have blogs. I can't get Kerry or Kim to do it. Jarom just doesn't have time. I have links on my site. Send me your email address so I can send you my address.

Scott's laugh is contagious, isn't it? I love it how he whenever he's laughing really hard, he closes one eye, and then when he's finished laughing (or out of breath), he takes in this huge breath while sucking in all the extra spit!

Happy Birthday Scott!
