Layton's 7th Birthday

Yes, I know it is 6 weeks past Layton's Sept. 8th birthday. I am just trying to make up for the many years we have left out Feb. 29th! Better late than never I always say! I had this great idea to have Layton postpone his party for a few weeks in order to give him a chance to make new friends in his new school class. A few weeks quickly turned into a month and a half due to several weekend trips and a one week trip to Mexico. Then of course, by October Will was ready for his party. The good news is that we did finally have a friend party for Layton on Oct. 20th.

It reminds us of the love dungeon (our first basement apartment) but it is up at the top so we called it our "love tower"! January Highlight: Staying at our friends cabin up by Mt. St. Helens. Just a quick drive up the mountain and we had plenty of snow for sledding and great views of St. Helens. January Quote: Scott and I were in the car with Cassidy. I was complaining about how tired I had been. It didn't see m to matter if I slept 4 hours or 8 hours, I always felt tired. Cassidy who had been relatively quiet up till this point pipes up and says, "maybe you are going through menopause." Scot t and I started laughing and then Cassi dy admitted she didn't even know what that meant, she had just heard it in "F ather the Bride II". Hauʻoli Lā Hānau Scott!

Heather sends us at least one vacation deal to look at each month. In September 2020 she showed us a sale on airfare to Hawaii over Scott's birthday. We had such a fun time there in January 2020 that it didn't take us long to commit and we booked airfare to Maui. We soon realized we couldn't find any affordable lodging in Maui that also offered free cancellation. Generous cancellation policies are definitely a must in these crazy COVID times. Heather found a good deal on lodging in Kauai so we changed our airfare from Maui to Kauai. Yes! Everything was finalized! Well that was until it was declared that all visitors to Hawaii would be required to show a negative COVID test, from one of their approved testing sites, to get off the plane in Hawaii. That was discouraging so we then changed our plans and flights to spend the week in Cancun. Finally we knew where we would be spending Scott's birthday week! Or not.
