Sunriver











We just got back from a great week at Sunriver! This year my sister and her family joined us as well so we had twice the fun (and more than twice the kids)! We swam, soaked up the sun, read books, played golf, rode bikes, ran marathons and triathalons, went to museums, saw the deepest lake in the United States, stayed up late, colored mandalas, ate junk food and lots of pork tacos, changed lots of diapers, sang karaoke, practiced driving, got dizzy at the park, watched lots of Barney, played guitar hero, went white water river rafting, and my sister even got hit by a drunk driver on her way home! (they are all ok!) Yes, I think we did it all! Thanks to the Seals for meeting us "half-way" for this awesome week - it was great to have the cousins together for that time.

glad ya'll had a nice trip. it looks like a trip we will definately have to make! great pics too :) we are off to orlando next week- the kids are very excited!

This trip was so much fun with your family. Thanks for all the yummy meals and dishwashing you did. Next trip together I hope to have my arms and hands a little less occupied. The only thing I could think of that you didn't mention was the first aid we were able to administer to Ryan, but other than that I think you covered it all. Even though changing lots of diapers isn't really anything new or different for me. Great memories and fun!!

What a fun and busy week you must have had. Did you ever get a chance to just rest?
The cousins must have loved spending so much time together. What wonderful memories for both families.

Heather sends us at least one vacation deal to look at each month. In September 2020 she showed us a sale on airfare to Hawaii over Scott's birthday. We had such a fun time there in January 2020 that it didn't take us long to commit and we booked airfare to Maui. We soon realized we couldn't find any affordable lodging in Maui that also offered free cancellation. Generous cancellation policies are definitely a must in these crazy COVID times. Heather found a good deal on lodging in Kauai so we changed our airfare from Maui to Kauai. Yes! Everything was finalized! Well that was until it was declared that all visitors to Hawaii would be required to show a negative COVID test, from one of their approved testing sites, to get off the plane in Hawaii. Blue and Gold

Our Blue and Gold Banquet theme this year was "Camping and Recycling".  I was in charge of the chocolate-dipped marshmallows for the centerpieces.  The gym looked great and everyone had a great time.  Of course, each cub scout brought in a theme-centered cake for the cake "contest" which supplied our dessert for the night.  Will decided to go with the camping theme and we made a giant Smore cake with the biggest home-made graham cracker known to man!  The boys spent some time at the recycling center at the back of the gym, making their unique creations from a bag of recycled items. Glad that is over!  Now just one more big cub scout pack meeting for the year....Pinewood Derby!!!!

Paris

So here is a look at our trip to Paris.  It might be more than most of you care to read!  I just copied and pasted emails we sent home while on our trip.  This is more for my benefit than anyone else's since this blog is the closest I have come to keeping a journal.  Hope you enjoy the journey- we sure did! View from our Seine River Cruise Day One We have the tiniest little room way up at the very top of a very narrow skinny hotel. It reminds us of the love dungeon (our first basement apartment) but it is up at the top so we called it our "love tower"! The bed is a double and you can only stand up straight in the room if you are standing on Scott's side of the bed! The tub is half size (I think they made it for Napoleon).  But I slept great. The weather was amazing! After getting in it was too early to get our room so we left our bags at the hotel and walked around for about an hour while waiting to meet up with the Parkers again.
